Hoove Square Mansion – Patio
Built in 1899, this historic West Adams residence was reimagined as student housing serving the USC community. Originally enclosed and converted into a convent dormitory space, the existing patio was transformed into a welcoming entry and focal point, reconnecting the home’s historic character with its new purpose.

The enclosed patio was carefully opened back up to restore the home’s original connection to the exterior. As part of the renovation, the three original columns along the front elevation were uncovered and restored, bringing back an important architectural feature that had been concealed over time. The newly opened patio now serves as a welcoming gathering space for residents, creating a shared outdoor area that connects the historic character of the home with its new life as student housing.
